Dendritic Opals

I’ve just spent the weekend working with these beautiful dendritic opals. Each one has its own unique character.

So, what are these beautiful stones that look like they have forests living in them?

Dendritic Opals

They are in fact opals, but they’re common opals, not the precious opals that you’re probably more familiar with flashes of greens, blues and reds. Dendrites are fern-like inclusions of iron, manganese, or other metallic oxides that create bold patterns within the stone. There are other stones that carry dendrites, such as moss agate, dendritic agate and dendritic quartz.

Whilst doing some research into what these stones are, how they’re made up and what they represent, I came across this, which is perhaps why I’ve been drawn to these stones, aside from their minimalist unique beauty.

"The energy of dendritic opals helps with one’s growth, both within the physical body and with one’s “spiritual”growth”. It allows one to be consciously aware of the nature of life’s experience, giving one clarity into one’s actions and bringing balance and harmony into one’s life.

It supports one’s intent and helps one to organize one’s thoughts, feelings and actions, so that one becomes discerning and is able to be accepting of others. This in turn helps one become non judgmental, just acknowledging others for who they are, an important lesson for one’s growth."

So there you have it!

I'm going to be offering up these stones to buy either set as a statement ring or a beautiful necklace. Which will you choose?
